My Sweet Boy

Before Henry arrived, I was worried. As cliche as this sounds, I literally was concerned about being able to love him enough. I have spent the past 2 years falling more and more in love with Charlotte. Would there be this noticeable disparity between my love for Charlotte versus Henry? I was feeling so many levels of guilt. For Charlotte who would no longer be my one and only… for Henry who might never know the full capacity of my love… just guilt..

Fast forward to today, four days later. There is no worry left in me.

I am four days in and instead of stressing over being up all night, I’ve been loving every night time feeding with my guy. Taking advantage of the time I have alone with him… every cuddle, every kiss. I am absolutely smitten.

And during the day, I’m trying my best to share the moments with my sweet C. I am literally blown away by the love I am feeling. Watching Charlotte love Henry, watching my husband be this amazing father and husband, just everything. I’m blown away.

I’m sure this honeymoon period will fade into reality, but for now, I’m simply enjoying every moment.

Plus, how cute is this little man???

Charlie & Henry

I have thought a lot about the introduction of Henry to Charlie over the past 42 weeks. It’s been unclear as to what Charlotte was truly anticipating with all the talk of Baby Henry, but regardless, she seemed to be excited.

Henry arrived on Thursday and on Friday evening, Charlotte came to the hospital to meet her brother. When my parents arrived at the hospital, we had Mark meet them downstairs and take C to get her a bit more comfortable (aka bribe her with some graham crackers). Then, he brought her up to see Mommy and meet her new brother.

The introduction could not have gone ant better. Charlotte was completely enamored and so deeply happy and excited. The video and pictures say much more than I ever could… get ready for heart-melting stuff…

A Couple Presents for Bumpkins

Aside from making some nursery purchases yesterday (we are switching over the nursery from Charlotte’s zen little princess space to bumpkins’ rustic lodge), I’ve made a couple other budget purchases.

Since finding out baby bump is a boy, I just couldn’t resist. Thankfully, I am SO fortunate (yet again) to have excessive hand-me-downs coming my way from my sister (and nephew), so we really don’t need much. But, who can resist a good (and adorable) deal?

Here’s the loot…

One 6-12 month romper by Baby Boden purchased on a Facebook Buy, Sell, Trade Group (my new obsession) for only $3!

So cute, right? Thanks to my Milly for doing the dirty work and picking this one up for me!

And #2, some brand I can’t remember, but literally the softest and coziest jammy (that I wish came in my size but is instead 6-9 months) for only $4 from Marshalls.

I love good deals and can’t wait to meet the little mister who’s going to bring these cute little outfits to life!

The 3am News

9/12/15

On Wednesday, September 9th at 3 am, we got news that will forever change our lives, hearts, and future. Our little Charlie is gaining a sibling 🙂

Now, it might seem weird that the news came at 3am… and that’s because it is weird. I had been feeling sick for a week, so I decided to buy some pregnancy tests. I planned to wait until Thursday, which was the day I was expecting my period… BUT, for those of you who remember the last time (when I took 10 pregnancy tests before testing positive), I have an issue with patience.

Anyway, I woke up at 3 am to pee (I will discuss this and other pre-pregnancy symptoms in another post), and decided… why not test now? I mean… it’s the good morning pee. I didn’t want to waste it.

So, I quietly unwrapped the test, did my thing and waited. I walked back and forth from one side of the bathroom to the other. Finally, I let my eyes reach the test: Pregnant. I can’t explain the feeling in one word. At first it was like, “duh”… I knew I was. And then came the “holy crap!” factor… not scared, but kind of “here we go again!” And of course excitement! So much excitement that I was awake for the next 2.5 hours googling, downloading baby apps, and trying to distract myself.

I duplicated my message to hubs from last time, but instead of putting the announcement sign near the toilet (which didn’t work as planned last time), I put it near the toothbrushes. After reaching over the sign and pregnancy test three times, he finally saw the message and ran out of the bathroom with a full face of toothpaste and half screamed, “REALLY?!” with a big sudsy smile!

The sign when I told Hubs we were pregnant with Charlie:

amazing dad

The sign to announce our newest miracle:

We’re really happy and really lucky. We literally just started trying this month. Mark said I must have hungry eggs. haha Nice, huh?

We let Charlie break the news to the parents:

Practicing for Her New Role

Last night my Milly (Mother-in-Law) brought Charlie a wonderful and perfectly timed Chanukah gift: The Baby Amaze Learn to Talk & Read Doll

Charlotte absolutely adores her new Baby Amaze and spent the whole evening practicing for her new role as BIG SISTER beginning in May 2016!

Yes folks, you read that correctly!

Miss Charlotte will be welcoming a little brother or little sister into our family somewhere in the vicinity of May 20th.

Cheers for growing families! Wish us luck 🙂

Dare I Say She’s Back??

Charlotte has been… out of sorts this past week. Yes, that is my polite way of saying she’s been kind of a jerk all dang week.

I’m not 100% sure what the cause has been, but I’m sure it has to do with the fact that for the past 3-4 nights, she’s woken up in the middle of the night hollering like a banchee and not subsiding without a little love from mom and/or dad. And I’m talking 1-2 hours of hollering per night. I’m tired.

Beyond that, I believe she is working on more teeth… it could be the molars on her right side (she has the top and bottom on the left) or it could be some other set of teeth. Either way, the intense amounts of drool and jamming her fingers in her mouth (and down her throat) leads me to believe that teething is playing a role.

The last little smidge of fun is what I’ll call “toddlerhood.” Miss Charlotte has been exploring the art of whine crying and tantruming. Over the past few days, she’s literally transformed from our sweet babe who barely cries (except during diaper changes) to a little todd-monster who is loosing her shit over everything!

I’m bored playing with this toy… TANTRUM!

I want to eat this piece of food, not that one… <throw everything on the floor> TANTRUM!

Don’t touch me… TANTRUM!

This is fun… TANTRUM!

You’re so funny, momma! <Laughing>… TANTRUM!

Get the picture?

We literally ate dinner last night to the sweet hum of Charlotte’s hysterics. After 3-4 full days of whining and/or spazzing tantrums, we decided it was time to just ignore her. So we ate and chatted while she went from blank stares to tantrum and back again.

However, last night, instead of waking up around 2, the sweet princess slept until 5… whined like a goon and then settled after Mark wound up her music box. I’ll call that progress. We were awake for maybe 10 minutes.

Even bigger progress has been her mood. She has been SUCH a love today. Who knows if it’ll be Jeckyll or Hyde when she wakes up from this next nap, but at least we had half a day with our sweetie pie.

Cute stuff & updates

here are some random updates for you…

  • Charlotte is a chatterbox. Constantly talking (or screaming) about something.
  • Recently, she’s been shoving her dang fingers so far in her mouth, she’s making herself gag. The fingers go in the mouth because molars are the devil, but I think she keeps doing it because we tell her to stop. Defiant little one.
  • Charlotte officially signs “more” whenever she wants anything.
  • Charlotte loves chocolate chip cookies. Aside from her bday, we haven’t given Charlotte anything in terms of sweets… Until yesterday when we gave her a chocolate chip cookie. Needless to say, she was signing a lot.
  • Charlotte continues to be a total berry monster. She can easily eat a pint of raspberries at any given moment.
  • Charlotte’s sleep schedule has been a bit off this summer due to lots of running around, but she still seems to nap like an infant. She probably gets between 15-16 hours of sleep daily.

That’s all for now!

12-Month Vaccination Reaction

At Charlie’s 12-month check up, she got a handful of vaccines. The two that I believe are leaving her polka-dotted and feverish are the MMR (measles, mumps & rubella) and/or the chicken pox vaccine.

They said that if she reacts, it will likely show up 10-14 days after the shots and sure enough, come day 10 – this past Friday – the little bunny woke up with a rash.

The rash was bad this weekend and even left her with a fever on Saturday, but seems to be on its way out. Besides the fever, she didn’t seem to be itchy or too bothered; although, she was crabbier than normal.

The biggest pain was that the vaccine warning said that in extremely rare cases, the rash can be contagious. That meant that little C had to avoid her baby besties during our weekend outings.
