Fun before the 4th

We had a fun morning at our city’s fun before the 4th parade! (Although, with the many obstacles this morning – potty, sunscreen, being a toddler, etc – it wasn’t looking like we were going to make it.)

But, thankfully, we beat the odds! And, Turns out, henry is a big fan of parades. He cheered, hollered, clapped and danced all morning. C got a hot dog and candy… obvious win!

All in all, a great time!

Sibling Chats

<Overheard this morning from the driver’s seat>

Henry: Blah blah blah blah blah blah

Charlie: One more time, Hemy. I no unnerstand you.

Hemy: blah blah.

Charlie: I just can’t talk to you right now. I goin’ to my new school to work out. But don’t worry a’cuz ‘grooooowwwwnnuups come back’ <sung to the tune of the Daniel Tiger song’>

Sunday Funday

Charlie slept in until 745 and then the two of us made pancakes together. H woke up at 9 (from his night sleep!!!!!) just in time to have a family pancake breakfast al fresco.

These are the moments. H kept his mallet in his hand as he took down 2.5 pancakes and C entertained us with her priceless chatter.

Perfect start.

Wouldn’t you guess…

It’s t-minus 11 hours until Disney. Since C has gone to bed, we’ve been hearing nonstop coughing. Just a few minutes ago, we had to go in because she had gagged while coughing.

Please, please, please have her magically wake up feeling great and healthy and energetic and happy.

Ugh. Feeling a little stressed.

Cookie Therapy

Back in February, my neighbor and I decided to attempt to make cookies to use as Valentines for the neighbors and C’s school. See full post here.

After our first attempt, I wasn’t convinced that we had much skill. They were alright, but I wasn’t totally sure. Well, my lovely Type-A, perfectionist neighbor saw something different. Thus began our cookie adventures.

Since Valentine’s Day, we’ve baked maybe 5 or 6 batches (many dozen per batch) of cookies and are really honing our skills. Most importantly, we’re having a lot of fun doing it!

Here are some pics of our cookie journey…

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star First Birthday Party

Running the Bases

Two or so weeks ago, my parents took the kids, Mark & I to a baseball game. Charlie LOVED it – per usual. Henry… oh Henry. He was a little crazy man… per usual. He climbed all over me, got busted with his little paws in some random kid’s bag of peanuts, was grabbing everyone’s stuff (including the lady next to me) and was just all over the place (generally speaking).

It was a Sunday (family day), so after the game, we took Charlie to run the bases for the FIRST TIME EVER! Of course, it was a dang Cubs game, so we had to wait FOREVER! Literally, we probably waited like 45+ minutes… maybe an hour?

Anyway, it was hilarious. She did such a great job, but couldn’t quite make it till the end. Her “sanals” (sandals) picked up too many pebbles.

Henry thought everyone behind us was staring at him… he LOVED it!

Charlie Chats

Jan-March 2017

Miss Charlotte is filled with hilarious little sayings and just, generally speaking, says the funniest and sweetest things. Here are a handful…

  • I told Charlotte we’d be going to a friend’s house. I listed the people we would see. She said, “and we’ll bring my siser (this is how she says sister), Henry, because he’s my best friend?” And then smooches his head.
  • After dinner and playing with friends, I asked C if she had a good time. “Yes! I come back next week. But now I take a nap in the car.”
  • Hemy (how she pronounces Henry)
  • “I go to my new shool today and bring my lunchbox?” (The first thing C says every morning.)
  • Gergert (yogurt) – this is one of my faves. Sounds German!
  • “I wanna do it all my self pease” (Oy. Miss Independent says it ALL. THE. TIME.)
  • She’s the queen of sing songing. She loves to sing song the nightly routine. “I brush teeth and go potty and snuckle (snuggle)”
  • “Sure!”
  • me: “Charlie, put your hat back on” C: “No, I wanna feel the wind blow in my hair!”
  • I just can’t. (This is her response to everything lately. “I just can’t put that away. I just can’t.)
  • She taught me a Spanish song from school: “Hola, Hola, Como Estas? Bien, Bien, I hope you are, too!” (Who knows if those lyrics are legit, but either way, super cute)
  • “Dat” (Dad) – sad that it’s not always “daddy” anymore…
  • beybor (neighbor) – always, “I do ___ and go see my beybor”
  • Goga (yoga) – they do yoga in school
  • “my new shool” – school
  • “Next week”… this is C’s favorite measurement of time. “I go to a football game with paba next week”… everything next week.
  • “I hurt my chin, but it feel better on fursday” – (fursday=thursday)
  • “You can’t sit with us”… this one is just jerky! BUT, I had to laugh (after the fact) as she told Mimi and Paba that they couldn’t sit with us, as my toddler somehow pulled out this famous, “Mean Girls” quote from her jerky toddler repertoire.
  • “Best friend” – she’s been pretty generous with the BFF designation. Henry, mommy, Teddy, Beckett (adorable little guy from school).
  • “my roller coaster my favorite” – random exclamation while driving to school referring to this roller coaster that’s currently in our basement
  • “ho-wey cow” – Holy cow
  • “Look! Toby has a gina like me!” (gina=vagina)
  • “Wa happened?” (What happened? – This is a statement usually following C breaking something)
  • “Hemy, clap!” “Hemy, crawl!” “Hemy, hold my hand!” (poor little Hemy – Henry – gets a lot of commands barked at him)

April 2017

Some more recent funny thing…

  • The explanation for just about everything is “grooowwwwnups come back” (Daniel Tiger Song)
  • ohhhh kayyyy (when C is conceding)
  • “LEXA, FWOZEN” (we got an Amazon Dot, so Charlotte LOVES to boss around poor Alexa… usually demanding Frozen)
  • “Can we play hide and seek after nap?” – For about a month straight, C kept asking us this at bedtime. She NEVER brought it up in the morning and we never played, but every night, she’d ask us.
  • “Dis really, really, really, really glass!”
  • Nanana = banana
  • Gwabage (garbage)
  • I’m suuuuupaaaman (she says as she RUNS around with her arms behind her like a cape)
  • “I’m going to see Mick-a-Mouse, but not Mick-a-mouse’s dog. Some people like him, but I don’t like him.”
  • “You’re my brover” (brother)
  • “Mommy, I wuv you”… have to remember this, just in case she hates me one day. I love you, too, sweet girl.

“Sharing” Berries

Mealtime at our house is usually a bit silly. Why? Because of Miss C. She’s just a goofy little person who LOVES food… kind of like her parents.

Remember this video from December 2015 of her mowing cheese?

Well, I took this video just a couple of days ago of the amazing Miss C enjoying some berries and contemplating sharing with both Daddy & Nana:

ENJOY!

28 Months!

**HI! Remember me? I started filling this out on 11/22 (a few days after C turned 28 months, but this is as far as a I got. Might as well just post what I have and fill in the blanks in two days when C turns 29 months!! GEEZ.)**

I literally have “a moment” almost daily when communicating with or watching Charlotte. She’s just such a person. She has SUCH personality and opinions (ohhhh the opinions…). She’s got spunk and humor. Just ask her… she’s the funniest person she knows 🙂

Size: While her cheeks are still perfectly squishy, Charlie is definitely losing her baby buddah belly. In terms of height and general size, I’d say she seems pretty in line with her class. She’s wearing 2T, although, I feel like some 2T shirts are too short on her (WHAT THE HECK!).

Clothing/Shoes/Diapers: Oops… I guess I just answered that above. C is in size 2T, size 6 shoes and size 5 dipes.

Potty Training: Charlotte loves to hang out on the potty. She reads Men’s Health Magazine, sings songs, farts (lots of potty farts), and just hangs. But let me tell you what doesn’t happen on the potty… poop and/or pee.

Honestly, I don’t really care… except it’s getting a bit nasty changing those poops. Woof. Also, today at her school lunch, she announced to the table – while everyone was eating – that she was in the process of pooping. So, yeah…

Teeth: C had her first dental visit last week! She did SUCH a great job! She’s also been doing well with toothbrushing. Instead of saying “ahhhh” when I’m brushing her teeth, she’s been making this very aggressive noise. The girl’s goofy!

Sleep: Charlotte LOVES to sleep. Last month (or so), she started napping at school one afternoon a week. It started out a bit rough (some days she wouldn’t sleep at all), but has been improving, with naps as long as an hour and 15. She’s also been doing one afternoon a week with my parents, which has been an adjustment. I think that she is starting to settle into her new schedule and go back to her long naps!

Bedtime Routine: Bedtime routine is still pretty much the same. Although, last night, C asked, “you rub my back with my head on my pillow?” Of course, I said yes. Then, she decided she wanted to rub my back as well, so we laid in bed and she essentially rubbed my arm with her mini fingertips. It was adorable.

Language: Charlotte just said something this morning that made me think that I should write some of her silly phrases down… hmmmm. Here are a few:

  • My mackey – my blankey (this is one of my favorites)
  • It’s wittle? It’s tiny?
  • Me do it! (this one actually makes me crazy)
  • Everybody, no talking! (again, another that makes me crazy!!)
  • No hugging/kissing (when Mark and I hug/kiss)
  • Wanna snuckle?
  • You pumping? (Something about her talking about pumping makes me laugh)
  • Mommy, you shirt pretty! (I LOVE receiving style compliments from Charlotte. The other day I asked her who her friends are… she said, “Chloe! Her shoes pretty!”)
