41 Weeks, 4 Days

How far along: 41 Weeks, 4 Days – So, I survived the worst sinus infection to date in my 31 years and I’m feeling good. Baby and I are still hanging out in this ginormous bod of mine. Somehow, I’m still feeling pretty good (mentally and physically). Babes and I are sitting comfortably… well, bouncing comfortably.

Total weight gain: As of my last weigh-in on Friday (4 days ago), I had lost a pound or so. With that, I’m at a total weight gain of 32 lbs even. Like most 41.5 week pregnant mommas, I’m feeling SO SKINNY. haha But really, I don’t feel too bad!

Maternity clothes: I’m over maternity clothes… but still rocking nothing but.

Stretch marks: F this question. As of 41 weeks, I have stretch marks. Asshole stretch marks. My doc said they might go away post-birth. I’m not overly confident, but I will say, they look better than when I first discovered them. I’m scared for my post-birth stomach, but trying to stay optimistic. There’s always really fancy and expensive lasers to zap that shit off once I have tons of excess money just slapping me in the face… right?

Sleep: Since being sick and being totally unable to sleep for more than 1 hour at a time, I’m 1000% grateful for my “only woke up three times to pee last night” sleep. It’s so luxurious.

Best moment of this week: I had an amazing time this weekend. The weather was perfect and our little family of three really enjoyed every available minute. I’m very thankful we had the time together.

Miss anything: I could go for some oysters.

Movement: Yes, yes. Little bugger likes to try to widen my stomach with his tiny feet. I’m guessing my ritzy womb is getting a bit tight these days.

Food cravings: Oysters and champagne.

Anything making you queasy or sick: My sinuses were trying to murder me via facial explosion. But that since has passed.

Have you started to show yet: BOOM, BOOM, BOOM… that’s the sound I make crossing the room.

Gender: Comfy, cozy little dude.

Labor signs: Well, I am definitely not in labor… so I don’t know how to answer this question. But am I having contractions? Yes. I had a very friendly (and by friendly I mean breath-stealing, reached-my nostrils) membrane sweep on Friday. It didn’t kick me into labor, but I’m hoping it has at least helped me to progress. Fingers crossed that my doc can fit me in this afternoon for round two of Operation Torture Mommy to Get Baby Out.

Belly button in or out: Ihave the weirdest belly button. It’s outward, but still very inny. Anytime Charlotte sees it, she does a double take.

Wedding rings on or off: Still rocking the wedding band and can definitely still get my engagement ring on… but it’s off.

Happy or moody most of the time: Ihave somehow been in a great mood (post-sinus hell).

Looking forward to: Baby, baby, baby!

40 Weeks & 3 Days, OB Check & Continued Bouncing

I’m sure some of you have been wondering if my recent disappearance is because I’m deep in those first few days of new mommyhood (again). Let me clarify… I am not. Instead, I am taking walks, having induction massages (talk about a dousy), eating dates, drinking red raspberry leaf tea, and bouncing incessantly on my birthing ball.

Photos taken on 5/20/16

How far along: 40 Weeks, 3 Days – Once again, it’s super weird to have this pretty arbitrary (at least in my case) date that you’re counting down to and then have it arrive and pass just like that. I’m not totally sure how it makes me feel. This morning as I was taking a nice long walk, I thought, this is it! I’m here. We did it. But then at moments, I get a little negative or at minimum, skeptical, and start thinking… uh oh… is this happening again?

Meaning, is this baby going to refuse to come on his own like his stubborn big sis?

Honestly, I don’t feel like that’s the case. This pregnancy feels different. But, only time will tell… and until then, I’ll be on my birthing ball bouncing away the days.

Total weight gain: I gained about 1.3 lbs this past week, taking my total weight gain to 33.4 lbs. Woot, woot! Go me! Also, my swelling is almost non existent. It’s crazy. Last pregnancy, I was in a puffy, swollen suit. This time, I still have arches AND bone structure in my feet.

Maternity clothes: IMaybe it was a bit premature, but I’ve started pulling some of my maternity clothes out of my drawers. I’m over it. Ready to wear real clothes again… and by real clothes, I mean yoga pants (that don’t tuck into my bra) and nursing tanks.

Stretch marks: I had SUCH a scare last Thursday. I’m not sure what I bumped into, but I had a nice thick line of broken blood vessels across my belly. I stared in the mirror for about 5 minutes before asking the hubs what the f*** I was looking at. There was no way that my body managed a 43-week pregnancy and 40 weeks of a second without a single stretch mark and than BAM… one right across the center of my belly.

Thankfully, it’s fading. I must have run into something and broke some blood vessels.

Sleep: Sleep still isn’t amazing. It’s not terrible, but not amazing. However, I’ve gotten REALLY good at napping. The past 4-5 days, I’ve taken a solid 2-3 hour nap every day. How great is that?

Although, the toddler was CRAZY last night. Oy. She woke up at 1 or so and was whimpering, then crying… Mark went in, then she was bawling. I talked to her over the monitor, then more tears. I went in… even more sobs.

Finally, we just let her whine it out, but she literally kept waking up randomly with the loudest shrieks. Oy. As a result, she’s got her spice on today.

Best moment of this week: I had such a great weekend with the family. The weather was beautiful, we didn’t have much we had to do… it was just nice. And Charlotte was a little doll.

Miss anything: I’m not really in “missing mode”… although, I’d be really happy if little man would arrive. This momma is ready to meet her man.

Movement: Yes! He’s still poking around in there. And hopefully making his way down the rabbit hole.

Food cravings: I don’t know… I’m getting pretty full pretty quickly these days.

Anything making you queasy or sick: My toddler and husband? Sorry to throw you two under the bus, but I’m over this cold! Thankfully, the worst seems to be behind me (knock on wood). I’m still VERY congested, but the exhaustion and sinus pressure/pain isn’t even a tiny fraction of what it was. I’ll call that a win.

Have you started to show yet: I’m at the point where everyone gives me a weird smile. I haven’t quite defined it, but I think it’s a cross between, “please don’t break them waters in my presence” and “aww, look at the wobbling weeble.”

Gender: Mister man.

Labor signs: I don’t know. I mean… baby’s still in there, so no?

Belly button in or out: I’ve gotta hand it to my belly button… it’s really doing some crazy things these days. Who knew it could manage such shapes and SUCH pressure. Do your thing, belly button.

Wedding rings on or off: So, I am still wearing my wedding band, but have taken off my engagement ring. It just became too much at night.

Happy or moody most of the time: I think I’ve been happy! Maybe a little crabby and “woes me” during the height of my cold, but generally happy. Shit… I’m about to have another baby! That’s happy stuff. Plus, I really can’t complain about my physical comfort. I’m really feeling good. My weekly chiropractor visits are paying off!

Looking forward to: I wanna meet my baby!!!!

Weight Gain: 1.3 lbs from last visit, 33.4 total

Heart Rate: 96 bpm

BP: 106/64

Baby’s Heart Rate: Ranged between 138 (where it sat most of the time) to 154 when he got excited

Baby Bump: About 39-40 cm

Other: I had a nonstress test on Friday, too. After nearly 2 hours, baby is not stressed. I’m sure you can imagine how excited I am to do ANOTHER one tomorrow… oh yay.

37 Weeks, 3 Days & My OB Check

How far along: 37 Weeks, 3 Days! Holy crap. I’m about 2.5 weeks from my due date. How is that even possible? I know I say this every SINGLE week, but time is seriously flying.

Taken on 4/29/16

Total weight gain: Weight gain is 3 lbs since my last appointment (2 weeks ago). Being that I had just eaten my delicious egg burrito breakfast, I’m okay with that. Total is 32lbs. Can I stay below 40?? Time will tell 🙂

Hopefully at minimum, I can stay below the 55+ I gained with Charlotte.

Maternity clothes: I’m rocking nothing but… but super excited to switch to my normal clothes! And thankful I’ve really only needed one season of clothing (cold weather).

Stretch marks: Way to go, skin! Still no stretchies!

Sleep: Sleep isn’t my strongest skill these days. My hips and my back and my shoulder get so damn sore. But it’s not terrible. With some solid tossing and turning, I still manage to sleep until about 615/630 every morning.

Best moment of this week: Be grateful that I waited until today to write this update. I was a bit cranky this week. BUT, now I’m back to happy so I can answer this question.

Highlights include more progress on the nursery…

Another Charlie poop on the potty! And also 4 farts! Yes, we had to strip down 4 individual times so the tiny gf could fart. She was proud.

More family time with the cousins!

And oy! Charlie’s first baseball game. It was SO much fun. She was just so incredibly happy. Nothing makes me happier.

Miss anything: Don’t judge, but yesterday morning, I woke up thinking about white sangria… at 630 am. How tasty does that sound?

Movement: The tiny man is such a mover and a shaker. I can’t even believe he’s going to be here soon. I haven’t spent a lot of time envisioning his tiny face, but I’m starting to. I see a mini Mark in my head.

Oy! I just want to squeeze him and smother him with kisses.

Food cravings: I ate so much at the game yesterday. I’m in “eat it while you’re still giant and getting more giant” mode. I had a hot dog, cheese curds and a giant soft pretzel. Whatever.

My point is that there isn’t much to crave when you’re eating everything.

Anything making you queasy or sick: My chiropractor actually helped a lot with my acid reflux. It’s definitely much more manageable since I went. But my back and hips. Oofta. They are having a hard time supporting the GIANT belly I’m rocking.

Have you started to show yet: Yesterday at the game, I was walking back to my seat and as I slipped into our row, my belly knocked the dude’s head in front of me… while I was carrying a giant soft pretzel dripping in butter.

I just shrugged.

Gender: Mister man.

Labor signs: I feel like my BHs contractions have slowed down. Speed up, contractions! Time to get ready for the show!

Belly button in or out: I laugh every time I see my belly button in the mirror.

Wedding rings on or off: Still on! Last night they were really tight, but back to being okay today.

Happy or moody most of the time: I am not going to lie… I’ve cried probably 5-6 times this past week and have found myself in an enraged state at least 4-5 times. So, I guess moody would be the overwhelming mood. BUT, today I feel happy and positive and good.

Looking forward to: I’ve got a lot of little things I’m looking forward to…

  1. Making more progress in the nursery! I just want everything hung up already.
  2. Checking more household tasks off the list and packing my damn hospital bag.
  3. We’re meeting with our doula tonight, which I’m excited about.
  4. Nice weather that’s in the forecast.
  5. We’re having dinner with friends (and their kiddies) on Friday!
  6. Mother’s Day is THIS Sunday! We are hosting brunch for the fam, which I’m excited about. I’m thinking of doing waffles again. Who doesn’t love a waffle bar?

Weight Gain: 3 lbs from last visit, 32 total

Heart Rate: 88 bpm (high, but way better than the 96 I was sitting at)

BP: 110/66

Baby’s Heart Rate: BOO! I forgot to ask, but she said it sounded perfect.

Baby Bump: Measuring between 37 and 38 cm, which she said likely means baby hasn’t dropped yet. However, she said that’s very common for second pregnancies. Many women don’t drop until they’re actually in labor or even right before they’re about to push. So no worries.

Other: I had my Strep B test today. Hopefully we’ll get some good news there (with a negative result). Also, I stayed strong and didn’t do the cervical check, which I feel good about. It really is such an insignificant test that literally makes you feel like shit or gets your hopes up without any validity.

On my way to the doc, I called my doula to keep me focused. Of course, I’m human and I want to read into something, so I started second guessing whether I should skip the cervical check or not. After speaking with her, I was really set in my decision. It helped me remember leaving the doctor’s office in tears last pregnancy when my cervix hadn’t changed. At this point, there is no need to read into anything. I just have to keep on going and just trust my body and see what happens!

36 Weeks, 3 Days

Taken on 4/22

How far along: 36 Weeks, 3 Days! Well sheesh! I’m over 9 months pregnant… To say that this milestone has hit hard would be an understatement. I’m all sorts of anxious and feeling a lot of pressure to get things squared away from a lot of angles: work, home, nursery, bris, general new baby stuff, labor/hospital stuff, etc. I feel like my to do list is miles upon miles long and I’m just feeling a lot of pressure.

While I don’t anticipate this little guy arriving early, I’d like to be prepared just in case. That means I’ve got a LOT of shit to do and pretty darn quickly. Oy.

With all of that said, I’m sure we’d be fine without a hospital bag or without the nursery finished or the house cleaned out… but it’s just not ideal. At all.

Total weight gain: As of last week, my weight gain was at 29 lbs. I think I’m starting to get used to my big, giant belly, because it doesn’t seem that shockingly large to me lately. However, I definitely still feel clunky and feel like the little man would like a bit more space. Or maybe I’d just like him to have a bit more space.

Maternity clothes: I’m done buying maternity clothes. However, there are a few postpartum items I need to buy (pair of fold over shorts from Old Navy – mine have a hole in them, fold over yoga pants, and a couple more nursing tanks.)

Stretch marks: The bod is still holding on strong. We can do this!!

Sleep: Ugh. So. Much. Tossing. And. Turning. I hate sleeping on my side. It’s just not good for you. I mean, I don’t know that for sure, but my shoulder seems to think it’s pretty terrible. My whole body feels crushed and my shoulder gets soooo achy. I’ve been trying to sleep on my back or in a weird side/belly position, but it all just leads me to toss and turn and get up to pee all night. I’m tired.

Best moment of this week: Mark made some good progress on the nursery wood working projects, which is always good. And baby hugs.

Changing table topper

Board that will hang over the crib with the first letter of the tiny dude’s name on it (metal patina letter)

Oh! We got all the baby clothes from my sis and ugh I just love, love, love them! So cute. I want to hug our little man.

And this past weekend we had two really nice Passover celebrations (technically not in my 36th week of Pregnancy, but whatever). Mark’s sis and her fam is in town… it’s been really silly watching Charlotte interact with her cousins. We’ve also discovered that her voice is SO SIMILAR to her cousin Audrey.

Best moment by far: my bestie had her sweet baby girl, Miss Josephine (Josie) 💕

Did I mention the C and I wore matching outfits?

Miss anything: Just general comfort.

Movement: This little guy is a cutie. No, I can’t see him, but his little pokes and movements are silly and cute. He does a lot of poking. IE: foot poking out of my side, knee jutting out of my belly, arms pushing on my pelvic bone, etc. Unfortunately, when he finds a “comfy spot” and just rests his little leg or knee on my innards, I get a tingly, numbing pain in my belly, which typically leads me to pushing him to a different spot. But I love feeling his tiny pokes.

Food cravings: I don’t think this week has been a big craving week…

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still struggling with the acid reflux this week, which is lovely. And my back and belly are sore.

Have you started to show yet: I think I might be showing…

Gender: Mister man.

Labor signs: Continued Braxton Hicks contractions. Hopefully they’re doing their job.

Belly button in or out: Oy. It just keeps getting weirder and weirder. I need to get the courage to take a picture, because it’s a strange little disappearing act.

Wedding rings on or off: Still on! For the most part, I feel pretty good. Every so often, towards the end of the day, things get a bit tight.

Happy or moody most of the time: I would probably say crabby; although, I do think it’s been more of a split. I lean towards crabby because those moments have definitely been more memorable.

I’m stressed and anxious and anyone who’s adding to that and/or not helping is in my war path. I think that’s a legit position to have, so I’m standing by it.

Looking forward to: I’m looking forward to making some VERY GOOD progress on my to do lists this week and weekend. I’m determined to check things off the list, so I’ll be working hard to do so. Wish me luck!

Oh! And this weekend, we’re taking C to her first baseball game!

35 Weeks

Well shit. I officially only have 35 days until my due date. That’s just crazy.

How far along: 35 Weeks – can you believe that? While it’s super hard to grasp, I’ve got to admit that I’m grateful to be solidly in my final stretch. This baby is officially taking over my body. It’s getting harder to breathe and more importantly, harder to carry little Charlotte around. Poor gal hardly has any lap left to enjoy.

Total weight gain: No update since my last doc appointment. Will know Monday when I’m back in there. I’m sure it’s glorious. I’m feeling all sorts of sexy… in that waddle-into-a-room kind of way.

I haven’t taken my photo for this week, but here’s one from last week (taken 4/13):

Maternity clothes: Today I bought two non-maternity tank tops for my post-partum body. Can you tell I’m a little excited? I caught some woman judging as I held a tank up to my bulging bod.

Stretch marks: I’m afraid to say it out loud, but so far, so good.

Sleep: I’m a zombie. I just cannot catch up this week. At all. Oy.

Best moment of this week: Marky started building the baby’s new changing table topper last night and it looks great! This excites me. I’m ready to have the room all set up so I can focus on other things… or just lay and relax.

Miss anything: Curling up. Sitting cross-legged. Being able to see all parts of my body without a mirror.

Movement: Today I literally JUMPED out of my chair. I swear, the kid scraped my insides with his toenail or something. Otherwise, he continues to be a wiggler.

Food cravings: I have been craving soda a lot, which sucks because I’ve REALLY been trying not to drink it. That might be it…

Anything making you queasy or sick: My acid reflux is going all sorts of crazy. I’m talking barf burps and all. This is what I was referring to when I mentioned feeling sexy. I’ve got my glam going.

Have you started to show yet: The inquiries about how many children I’m carrying and whether I’m ‘about to pop’ have increased… so I’m guessing that I’m showing just a bit.

Gender: Maybe a little mini Mark! With those freckles… oy. Please be a mini Mark.

Labor signs: Last night I felt like I was having a ton of Braxton Hicks contractions. Maybe I was dehydrated? But no real signs. Baby is still quite high. Although I do feel as if he’s trying to rearrange my pelvic bone.

Belly button in or out: We probably shouldn’t talk about it. It’s really goofy looking. ANYTIME C gets a glimpse of it, she chuckles and pokes it.

Wedding rings on or off: Still on!

Happy or moody most of the time: I can’t remember really? I had a GREAT day with my tiny girl yesterday. I mean, GREAT. DAY. She was just so sweet and lovely. Now, don’t get me wrong, she also had a few really useless meltdowns AND had the worst night of sleep ever (which in turn meant we did as well)… but other than that, it was the best day. I just wanted to eat her up. She was so sweet and delicious.

But I totally digressed. My mood… probably a bit on edge, but not too bad. Sleepy Melissa isn’t the best version.

Looking forward to: SO much! I’m excited to see the progression of the changing table topper. We’re also meeting with our Doula tomorrow morning, which will be good. I’m not sure what to expect, but I’m excited. AND my brother will be in town, so we’ll get some family time in tomorrow night.

AND the most exciting of all is that we’re headed to pick up all of the amazing hand-me-downs from my sister. YES! This means I will soon fill the closet and drawers with tiny little man outfits and I will hug them and be so excited.

33 Weeks, 3 Days Update & Ob Check

Like that im wearing the same shirt/blazer as last week?

How far along: 33 Weeks, 3 Days – Another week has flown on by and I can officially say that I’m having my little babes NEXT MONTH! Can’t wait to meet you, little man.

Total weight gain: Over the past 2 weeks, I gained 4 lbs… this puts me at a total weight gain of 27.8 lbs. Not too shabby… especially after the foodie weekend I had!

Maternity clothes: I think I’m done with maternity clothes. I mean, clearly not done wearing them because every non-maternity shirt I sport rocks a little midriff, but I’m done getting new stuff. I’m just going to tough it out with what I’ve got and move on!

Can you tell that I feel like I’m in the home stretch? Hopefully I’m not too premature in feeling this way. I mean, 6.5 weeks is a long time, but not.

Stretch marks: Nada! What I do have is a VERY splotchy belly. There is just so much pressure on the skin that my blood vessels are out in full force.

Sleep: This weekend I took TWO 2-hour naps. Heck yes. But seriously, I’m exhausted. Definitely don’t have that second trimester spring in my step these days. It’s third tri sluggishness all the way.

Best moment of this week: This weekend I took Marky out for his birthday, which was a blast. Really, any amount of time that I get alone with this man is wonderful. We ate a delicious dinner and met his boys out for drinks. It was a lot of fun!

Miss anything: I could go for a cocktail… and I would just LOVE to put my socks on without thinking… or struggling.

Movement: The little bugger continues to move all over the place. Doc thinks he’s head down, which is great. I absolutely love feeling him. Even more than the kicks, I just love when he butts a little foot or knee or limb up against the front of my belly. I take the opportunity to give him a nice little massage.

So sweet, my little guy.

Food cravings: I feel like I’ve been indulging a decent amount lately… Not really feeling the NEED for anything lately.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Remember last week when I said I recovered from my cold? Well, the damn thing came back! I’ve had tightness in my lungs and just yuck. And I’m exhausted and foggy. Dang it! I’m ready for it to pass.

Also, tonight we had fish for dinner. COD to be exact. It was good, but simultaneously made me a little queasy.

Oh! And last week I ate a jimmy johns sandwich with extra hot peppers. I’m literally still regretting it. Ever since, I’ve had terrible pain in my esophagus. The first couple days it literally felt like I swallowed a jolly rancher. Now it’s just a little sore. Stupid hot peppers.

Have you started to show yet: a little.

Gender: Mister, mister.

Labor signs: Still having a decent amount of Braxton Hicks contractions. I’m hoping that they’re helping my body to prepare and not the cause of dehydration or something like that. Come on body, we can do this!

Speaking of, I went to an ICAN meeting this weekend. ICAN is a c-section support group. I went hoping to hear positive vbac stories or meet other women who are trying for a vbac.

There were three other women there and honestly, it wasn’t totally my thing. Not sure I’ll go to the next meeting.

Belly button in or out: The belly button just keeps getting weirder. Now it’s a weird little line that protrudes a bit. It’s slowly disappearing.

Wedding rings on or off: Still on!

Happy or moody most of the time: Last week I had some crabby moments. I’m definitely feeling much happier, but I definitely wasn’t myself last week.

Looking forward to: This weekend we’re headed to Chicago to go to the aquarium with my brother and his new gf! I can’t wait to show C all the fishies and to meet the new gf.

Should be a blast!

33.5 Week Check Up

Bp: 100/60

Heart Rate: 96 bpm (high again)

Weight: up 4 lbs

Baby’s heart rate: 145 bpm

The fun stuff: I asked my doc if she could please be at my labor and she assured me that she’s going to do everything she can to be there. She said she really thinks I’ll do a lot better with her and that her partners will likely appreciate her being there… Aka: her partners might not appreciate an extremely stubborn vbac patient.

I left feeling really happy about that. In fact, I should bring my doc a dessert treat next appointment.

Oh! I also asked her if I’d get checked next appointment (at 35.5 weeks or if we’d wait until 37.5 weeks – typically cervical checks begin at 36 weeks)… She said that I could get checked next appointment if I’d like, but that we can look at our schedules at my next appointment and schedule an additional appointment for 36.5 weeks. I think waiting until 36.5 weeks is probably a good thing for me mentally.

Those appointments have the potential to be so frustrating.

32 Weeks – ONLY 8(ish) TO GO!

How far along: 32 Weeks! Can you believe it? Only 8 weeks left… technically! Although who REALLY knows. Learned that one with pregnancy #1.

But seriously, this has been the fastest pregnancy ever. It’s all a total blur. The weeks are so fast, it’s hard to comprehend. I feel like the remaining 8 weeks are just going to fly even faster and our sweet little mister will be here.

I think Charlotte is starting to get it a little bit. Clearly she’s obsessed with babies, but she talks a lot about the baby in Mommy’s tummy. She’ll say “shhhh” because the baby is sleeping. And she gets all excited and wants to put her hands on Mommy’s belly. It’s all very sweet. I literally cannot wait to see her shine as big sister.

Total weight gain: Over the past 3 weeks, I gained 2.5 lbs (as of Monday), which is great! I’m up a total of 23.5 lbs, which I’m totally good with. I just looked, and at 31 weeks with C, I had gained 26 lbs.

Maternity clothes: I went to Destination Maternity / Pea in the Pod last weekend and left totally bummed out. The only thing I actually liked was this $130 faux leather coat. The lady tried to convince me that I could wear it after… but I wasn’t sold. So, I left empty handed.

Here’s a  link to the coat. It was cuter in person.

I also saw this shirt there, which I just loved. SO  FUNNY… but $38… I don’t think so.

Stretch marks: Still going strong with no stretchies… although, I had a dream this morning that I put on a two-piece swimsuit and was SHOCKED to see that my stomach was ALL stretch marks. I’m hoping that isn’t a premonition. I secretly have goals to rock a (tasteful) midriff bearing dress and bikini in my future.

Sleep: 75% of the time, I feel like a turtle stuck on its back. But really, sleep hasn’t been too bad.

Best moment of this week: You guys… Charlotte was dressed as a furry teddy bear. What could EVER be better than that? She was happy and huggable and delicious. Let’s just call the whole month made.

We also celebrated our anny last weekend, which was so much fun! I forgot to take a photo, which is a bummer. I wore my new faux leather pants… I was a fan. We went for a delicious dinner at this French restaurant on the lakefront. It was perfect. We had a wonderful 2+ hour dinner and just really enjoyed each other.

Afterwards, we went to the casino to play some blackjack, which is just so much fun… except that we lost $80. That was a bummer. But still, SO FUN! I can’t help it… I love gambling. Thankfully I’ve only actually played cards at a casino twice, so I’m still up overall 🙂

Miss anything: I’ve been having some heavy wine cravings. I think it was that glimpse of spring we had. White wine on a spring evening. Heavenly.

Movement: Last night the tiny tot tried to escape. I swear he was trying to find his way out of my lady bits. He continues to be a mega wiggler. I often find myself suffering from severe twitches caused my his need to give my internal organs titty twisters.

Food cravings: There is this Veggie Pesto Breakfast Burrito at a local coffee shop by me… Nothing makes my mornings better than starting it off with one of those suckers (with the deliciously spicy salsa) and a vanilla latte.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve recovered from my cold!! This one was definitely short-lived (only about a week), but SUCH a dousy. It got me whining and crabby. But I’m feeling good now.

Have you started to show yet: Ba bump.

Gender: Little brother bear.

Labor signs: Oh no, no. Although we are starting all the prep for it. We hired a new doula, I’ve been reading positive birthing stories and researching VBAC’s… I’ve been trying to get our ducks in a row! We’re definitely in the home stretch.

Belly button in or out: It reminds me of the weird alien’s mouth from Max & Me…

max and me

Wedding rings on or off: On! Last time I made it to 36 weeks… we’ll see what happens this time.

Happy or moody most of the time: I think I’ve been happy. You’d have to ask the hubby. I was crabby last night and I’ve been sick, so I’ve been whiney. But happy? Whatever, I can’t remember so whatever it was doesn’t count and just defaults to the happiest, sweetest woman ever.

Looking forward to: Marky’s birthday is next week! We’ve been celebrating MarKch all month with weekly presies. I love birthdays!! Going out for another date next weekend to celebrate 🙂

31 Weeks Here! Single Digits Left…

How far along: 31 Weeks!! Holy crap guys. Remember when I was going to post weekly bumpdates? Oops. Things got a little busy these past couple of weeks, but here’s one… and right on time!

Also, only 9 weeks till the big due date. That’s pretty crazy, huh? Especially since time is literally just flying by. This little nugget will be here before I know it!

Total weight gain: I have an appointment with my OB on Monday, so the answer to this one will have to wait. How do I feel? Like I wish someone could walk around with me holding up my belly. That would help.

But really, I definitely don’t feel as pregnant as I look in photos. Every so often I see a photo or a mirror glance at a weird angle and I’m totally thrown off. Holy hell! Who is that?

I don’t recognize myself.

But that’s okay! The positive is that this baby is such a wiggler… makes me feel like we’re “spending time together.”

Maternity clothes: I bought a couple new shirts and a pair of faux leather leggings. Clearly a maternity must-have. I haven’t worn them yet, but maybe this weekend.

Stretch marks: Still going strong with no stretchies.

Sleep: Sleep has been on and off. Last night was an off night. Definitely could have done without my bout of insomnia from 3-5… but what can you do?

Best moment of this week: Well, these past few weekends have been great! I’ll post more about those in a separate post, but it’s been a happy week. Charlie turned 20 months, Mark and I celebrated 3 years… all good stuff!

Miss anything: Putting my socks on with ease.

Movement: The other night during our parenting class, my back was killing me. To get a little relief, I put my hands under my belly and essentially held it up with my hands. Apparently, the lift caused the little man to require a readjustment because he instantly made a huge movement. The cool part is that he moved in a way that it literally felt like he was in my hands… like I was holding him. I spent the rest of class trying to replicate the experience with no luck.

Food cravings: Nothing too crazy these days.

Anything making you queasy or sick: My toddler… but I don’t think that’s what this question is referring to. But dang it… C and I are cold-ridden again.

Have you started to show yet: Big ass belly.

Gender: A Mister.

Labor signs: Just the run-of-the-mill Braxton Hicks.

Belly button in or out: It’s a very strange crater-like inny outty. Don’t ask…

Wedding rings on or off: On!

Happy or moody most of the time: I’ve been good these past few weeks! We’ve had a lot of fun.

Looking forward to: We are celebrating our anniversary this weekend! Hot date with my hubs at a fancy shmance restaurant… what could be bad? Also looking forward to my OB appointment. I don’t know why, but I am. Hmmm. I am hoping to schedule a hair appointment, so that’s exciting, too! All good things.

28 Weeks Bumpdate

Taken 2/27/16

How far along: 28 Weeks, 3 Days – THIRD TRIMESTER

Total weight gain: So I finally decided to break down and ask my doctor how my weight gain this pregnancy compares with last pregnancy. AND, the consensus? The same! However, I am currently about 4 lbs heavier than last pregnancy, which is where I started out (AKA: my pre-pregnancy weight for this pregnancy was 4 lbs above last pregnancy).

I was actually really relieved to hear that. I don’t know why exactly, but it felt good.

And honestly, I’ve been doing really quite well with my workout routine over the past 2-3 months. I’ve been going strong at around 3 workouts per week (there were a few weeks I skipped because I was sick, etc) and actually increased to 4 times starting last week. We’ll see if I can keep it up.

It’s crazy how much better I feel when I’m working out. I feel more energized and flexible and just all around less achy and less like a giant monster hobbling around.

Maternity clothes: I still haven’t made any progress here. I should get another pair of workout pants and a sports bra and could also use a new top or two… but I haven’t decided what I’ll do with that.

Stretch marks: Still going strong with no stretchies.

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping pretty well lately. Although last night I was up with poor Charlie. She had a nightmare and woke up SCREAMING… and I mean SCREAMING at the top of her lungs… last night. Daddy went in first, but within 15 minutes of him getting back to bed, she was screaming again. It was Mommy’s turn.

Despite it being 3:30 in the morning, it was actually really sweet time with my girl. She was such a cuddle bug and just so warm and innocent.

Anyway, I digress. My sleep has been just fine.

Best moment of this week: My sweet Katiekins was back in town this weekend for her shower! I was able to see her Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The only way for it to be.

Her shower was a lot of fun! Great food and even better company!

Then Sunday, we all got together for brunch with the babies. Yes, more baby brunching! It’s so fun to have all the kiddies together.
The other fun little snipit is that we’re continuing to make progress in Charlotte’s new room. The big girl room and bed transition is coming quickly!

Miss anything: I could go for a nice little happy hour date.

Movement: I’ll keep saying it, but this little mister is a mover and a shaker. He’s busy busy in there.

Food cravings: I haven’t been to “crave-y” this week. I mean, I love sweets, but whatever. OH! Wait… the other night I ate… hmm. What did I eat? An orange, a bag of cheddar skinny pop and a bowl of cherrios. Mark claimed it was my first little pregnancy random food binge. It was tasty.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nada.

Have you started to show yet: Today some very sweet women told me that they didn’t even notice that I was pregnant! Yahoo! Go me.

Gender: little man!

Labor signs: The Braxton Hicks have slowed down a bit, which is nice. Doc said it’s no biggy.

Belly button in or out: My belly button is a weird little stretched bump now.

Wedding rings on or off: On, but sometimes I wish off.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy unless people are being mean. I have a very low tolerance for mean.

Looking forward to: We should be pretty darn close to done with C’s room by the end of this weekend. I literally cannot wait. We are going to start doing nighttime routine in there (reading her books in her new bed, etc) and playing in there and just sleeping in her crib at night. Then, a week or two after that, we’ll make the big transition.

And then we get to decorate the nursery! Big things.

There is still a TON to finish, which is quite overwhelming. And I just feel like there are so many things I want to get done. And of course, whenever you feel like that, you get hit with a ton of other random stupid things that try to derail you. One being my broken windshield. Definitely going to be a very unwanted expense and time-suck to get that stupid thing fixed.

Universe, please just let me spend this final trimester nesting in peace.

23 Weeks, 4 Days

I took this photo on the 23 week mark (aka last Friday), but didn’t post it because my face looked especially bloated and was hoping to do a retake but have ultimately given up. With that said, ignore my puffy face.

1/22/16 – Got my little love bug with me 🙂

How far along: 23 Weeks, 4 Days

Total weight gain: I meant to check and then I forgot. Truly. I’m not even just saying that but really avoiding the scale. I’ll try to remember.

Maternity clothes: Maternity leggings are my best friend. I swear, my body just aint what it used to be. My boobs feel like at any given moment they’re literally going to explode. Ugh.

Stretch marks: Still none… so there’s that! Go me!

Sleep: Sleeping is okay. A bit uncomfortable with the side sleeping. My arm and shoulder tend to go numb depending on which side I’m laying on. I have found a comfortable position though… I have to be pretty well propped up and maybe a hint angled to one side and then I’m able to sleep on my back without feeling winded.

Best moment of this week: This past week (and through the weekend), we moved our office to another building. This was not the best moment of my week; however, being all moved in and done with the madness feels pretty good. Let’s just say that moving your work office… with your parents… well, it’s not that fun. Thankfully, we managed to have only one screaming argument (this week) and it was quickly resolved. To add to the joys of moving, our furnace at home died, we found out our shower was leaking into the basement (in the unfinished and finished portion) and we’re all sick… AGAIN. Somehow, we’re managing to stay in good spirits.

Miss anything: Cold meds. I would love a little nyquil or sudafed right about now.

Movement: The bugger must be getting big. The movements are definitely getting stronger! I absoltely love it. It’s just my favorite. I think he’s going to be a little food lover just like his parents because every time I put a tiny bit of food in my belly, he jumps for joy. Or at least that’s what I tell myself. I’m looking forward to having Charlotte feel him move. We got close the other day, but then Miss Bossy realized I was holding onto her hand and the game ended.

Food cravings: Cake. Cake. Cake. Donuts. Cake. Ice Cream. It’s terrible. Thankfully I haven’t indulged, but I feel myself caving. I need a sweet treat ASAP. Last night I was so desperate for a treat that I made homemade chocolate milk. It was actually very easy and pretty tasty (just milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla, and sugar). I drank about half of my glass and then gave it to Mark. Tasty, but no wedding cake.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Have you started to show yet: The question is, “are there any angles where you’re managing not to show?” Answer: None that I can see.

Gender: A little newsie.

Labor signs: No, but I have been thinking about labor a lot. At first, I felt 100% convinced that I was going to end up having a c-section and now, for whatever reason, I feel more worried (if I’m being honest) that this baby is going to come naturally. I really do want a natural birth experience, but with my experience with Charlotte looming in my mind, I can’t help but feel a little nervous about the whole thing. I don’t feel as mentally strong as I felt last time. I’m a wounded soldier.

Belly button in or out: I would die of shock if my belly button popped out.

Wedding rings on or off: Ugh, my fingers are already swelling…

Happy or moody most of the time: With the move this past week, I tried VERY hard to focus my energies on not being cranky. To just be relaxed and go-with-the-flowish… a quality that isn’t really in my wheelhouse. Regardless, I think it worked. Although that might be what’s left me feeling desperate for cake. Eat your feelings, anyone?

Looking forward to: Tonight we get C’s newly painted big girl bed. The girl who’s refinishing the furniture for us sent us a sneak peek and it’s looking great! So I’m excited to see it. Hmmm. What else? That might be it…

How gorgeous is this bed??

Left: Before in all its green glory, Right: After!!

The dresser that I absolutely adore.

Look how well she cleaned up the original hardware…
