39 Weeks, 3 Days & 39 Week OB Check

I took this photo on Monday, but haven’t had a chance to post. I’m going to skip my weekly update and say generally speaking, week 39 was pretty good. I had a great acupuncture appointment and chiropractor appointment that left me feeling pretty darn comfortable, all things considered.

My mood was generally stable. And of course, I turned the big 31.

As for my OB check, it went really well!

Weight Gain: I actually went down a few ounces… I know… I’m so skinny. Still sitting at right around 32 lbs total weight gain.

Heart Rate: 96 bpm

BP: 122/58

Baby’s Heart Rate: 135 – chill little man.

Baby Bump: Measuring around 40 cm

I now have another OB check scheduled for tomorrow. I still have not had a cervical check or anything of the sort and we have not discussed any interventions at this point. My hope is that we can continue down that path for one more week and discuss next steps at 41 weeks. I will; however, have a Non-Stress Test tomorrow to check on the little bugger. Based on how I’m feeling and how he’s continuing to splash around, I think all is good.

28 Weeks Bumpdate

Taken 2/27/16

How far along: 28 Weeks, 3 Days – THIRD TRIMESTER

Total weight gain: So I finally decided to break down and ask my doctor how my weight gain this pregnancy compares with last pregnancy. AND, the consensus? The same! However, I am currently about 4 lbs heavier than last pregnancy, which is where I started out (AKA: my pre-pregnancy weight for this pregnancy was 4 lbs above last pregnancy).

I was actually really relieved to hear that. I don’t know why exactly, but it felt good.

And honestly, I’ve been doing really quite well with my workout routine over the past 2-3 months. I’ve been going strong at around 3 workouts per week (there were a few weeks I skipped because I was sick, etc) and actually increased to 4 times starting last week. We’ll see if I can keep it up.

It’s crazy how much better I feel when I’m working out. I feel more energized and flexible and just all around less achy and less like a giant monster hobbling around.

Maternity clothes: I still haven’t made any progress here. I should get another pair of workout pants and a sports bra and could also use a new top or two… but I haven’t decided what I’ll do with that.

Stretch marks: Still going strong with no stretchies.

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping pretty well lately. Although last night I was up with poor Charlie. She had a nightmare and woke up SCREAMING… and I mean SCREAMING at the top of her lungs… last night. Daddy went in first, but within 15 minutes of him getting back to bed, she was screaming again. It was Mommy’s turn.

Despite it being 3:30 in the morning, it was actually really sweet time with my girl. She was such a cuddle bug and just so warm and innocent.

Anyway, I digress. My sleep has been just fine.

Best moment of this week: My sweet Katiekins was back in town this weekend for her shower! I was able to see her Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The only way for it to be.

Her shower was a lot of fun! Great food and even better company!

Then Sunday, we all got together for brunch with the babies. Yes, more baby brunching! It’s so fun to have all the kiddies together.
The other fun little snipit is that we’re continuing to make progress in Charlotte’s new room. The big girl room and bed transition is coming quickly!

Miss anything: I could go for a nice little happy hour date.

Movement: I’ll keep saying it, but this little mister is a mover and a shaker. He’s busy busy in there.

Food cravings: I haven’t been to “crave-y” this week. I mean, I love sweets, but whatever. OH! Wait… the other night I ate… hmm. What did I eat? An orange, a bag of cheddar skinny pop and a bowl of cherrios. Mark claimed it was my first little pregnancy random food binge. It was tasty.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nada.

Have you started to show yet: Today some very sweet women told me that they didn’t even notice that I was pregnant! Yahoo! Go me.

Gender: little man!

Labor signs: The Braxton Hicks have slowed down a bit, which is nice. Doc said it’s no biggy.

Belly button in or out: My belly button is a weird little stretched bump now.

Wedding rings on or off: On, but sometimes I wish off.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy unless people are being mean. I have a very low tolerance for mean.

Looking forward to: We should be pretty darn close to done with C’s room by the end of this weekend. I literally cannot wait. We are going to start doing nighttime routine in there (reading her books in her new bed, etc) and playing in there and just sleeping in her crib at night. Then, a week or two after that, we’ll make the big transition.

And then we get to decorate the nursery! Big things.

There is still a TON to finish, which is quite overwhelming. And I just feel like there are so many things I want to get done. And of course, whenever you feel like that, you get hit with a ton of other random stupid things that try to derail you. One being my broken windshield. Definitely going to be a very unwanted expense and time-suck to get that stupid thing fixed.

Universe, please just let me spend this final trimester nesting in peace.

My Back Took a Sick Day

Okay, my back has taken this whole painful and uncomfortable third trimester thing to a whole new level today. Last night I made it to the gym, but ended up taking a tylenol beforehand. I’m guessing that was stupid. I have been so good about not taking medicine, but I was so uncomfortable and really thought a workout would help. Anyway, when I got home, the hubs helped me do 1 minute ice, 1 minute hot on my back for 10 minutes or so. However, when I woke up this morning, I wasn’t feeling any better. And, by the time I got into work, I was seriously uncomfortable. My back pain has gotten to a point where it almost takes my breath away and today, was making me pretty nauseous. I literally sat at work staring blankly trying to figure out what the heck I was going to do. I had my hot and ice packs with me, but nothing was working.

Finally, at around noon, I decided to call it quits and try working from home. Unfortunately, the only position that seems to relieve the pain is of the horizontal nature… not a real powerful working position. Needless to say, I haven’t gotten anything done today, my back still feels terrible, and I’m not sure what to do.

I have an appointment with my chiropractor tomorrow at 5 pm and just got a referral for an acupuncturist. It’s time to get creative. This pain is definitely NOT sustainable for 5.5+ more weeks.

If anyone has other suggestions, please share… I’m struggling.

A Weekend of Progress, Backtracking & Love

My agenda for the weekend was as follows:

  • Do laundry (baby stuff – pretty much anything fabric, towels & linens, and our clothing)
  • Watch pediatrician bio videos online with hubs, either make a decision or decide who we want to meet with
  • Go through Mark’s boxes of crap (ie: every assignment he ever turned in while in college, Navy stuff, and other random stuff)
  • Clean out a cabinet in the kitchen for baby stuff
  • Get rid of some old stuff in basement storage
  • Decide what we want to sell in our garage sale this summer
  • Hang up picture frames (that came crashing down) and dream catcher in the nursery
  • Figure out and mount baby monitors
  • Go to BuyBuy Baby to return items and pick up items
  • Baby shower Thank You cards
  • Pack hospital bags (or at least start)
  • Review baby names

I think that might have been all. I know, that’s all, right?

Well, we actually made REALLY great progress on the list. We crossed off everything from the list except: laundry (while I probably did 10 loads, there is still more… the baby stuff is ENDLESS), hang up picture frames and dream catcher, baby shower thank you cards (hope to finish this week), and pack hospital bags. Not too shabby if you ask me!

In addition to our progress, we also took a mini step backwards. During our shopping trip to BuyBuy Baby, the hubs suggested we test out their gliders to see if any of them were more comfortable than ours. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this, but my husband is not a fan of the glider I selected. His complaints are valid, as the chair is definitely more suited for a petite person. It’s short and narrow… oh, and the engineer in him does not like the gliding mechanism… it does not meet his standards.

Anyway, of course, we sat down on a chair and totally fell in love with it. It was more spacious and SO plush and just lovely. So, as I fell more and more in love with the chair, Marky was on the phone with Babies R’ Us, trying to figure out if they would accept a furniture return… without the box.

Turns out, we are about 75% sure they will accept the chair back, SO, we decided to put our order in for the new chair (if they don’t accept our return, we can still cancel our order for the new chair… no harm done). The unfortunate part? It takes 12 weeks for the chair to come in… yes, the math is obvious… I’m due in 9 weeks, the chair won’t be ready for 12… hmmm. That’s 3 weeks sans glider. Not ideal, but ultimately, it was a sacrifice we decided to make. AND, with the 20% off BuyBuy Baby Coupon and our store credit from returns, the chair only cost us $479! Not too shabby.

Hopefully they’ll accept our return this week. Bye, bye chair…

I can’t find the exact chair we bought online, but here’s a very similar one…

Our Chair: Little Castle Serenity Glider & Ottoman in Crushed Silver (the photo above looks pretty dang similar... minus the color... ours is a light grey).

As for the love portion of the weekend… despite all the productivity, I had a really good weekend with my hubs. And definitely a much-needed one. With all the craziness at his work lately, I had been feeling a little lonely and was definitely missing him, so it was really nice to spend two solid days just the two of us. And despite the fact that we weren’t doing anything more than baby-prep chores, we had a lot of fun. I’m a lucky girl to be so in love with such a great guy.

I feel like absolute crap today. I don’t know if it’s something I ate or just some weird bug, but my stomach has been totally off all day and I have a splitting headache. I am counting down the seconds until I can put on my sweats and curl up at home. Today is just not a good health day for me. Hopefully with ample sleep and relaxation tonight, I will be back in action tomorrow.

I’m thinking a bath is mandatory tonight. I was having such bad back pain this weekend, so after rubbing my back a bit, my hubs drew me a bath, lit a candle for me and put on a nice meditation CD. It was heavenly to say the least and I can’t wait to repeat it.

Also, to soothe that back pain, I had my first prenatal massage on Saturday… and wow. I need to go back for more ASAP. It was SO nice and really helped me to survive. My back was hurting quite a bit leading up to the appointment. The massage lady suggested bi-weekly massages to aide in delivery and help ease pain / promote relaxation. Good idea, huh? She wasn’t willing to pay for it… oh well!
