Henry’s Newborn Photos

Within a week of little Henry’s arrival, we took Henry’s newborn photos. I don’t remember all the details, as I was in a blurry state of exhaustion, but I do remember that it did not go amazingly. My GIANT baby refused to sleep like a newborn. He cried and cried for the first 3/4 of the session and then slept super lightly for the last quarter.

We had planned to schedule another mini session to get a few more photos, but I got lazy and didn’t want to endure the torture. Regardless, his pictures are cute! Not my favorite photo session, but definitely some very sweet shots. As you’ll see, my little ham also tried to steal the show with some 2-year-old shots.

Henry’s Fresh 48 Photos

I noticed yesterday that I have yet to post any of Henry’s professional photos. For Henry, we did photos in the hospital when Charlie was there visiting. This is the “Fresh 48” and I am SO happy that we did them. They’re amazing and special and give me all the feels.

Adjusting

We’ve survived the first 11 days! And honestly, it’s been going really well. There have been moments where the exhaustion sets in, but really, it’s been going well!

Mark just went back to work today, so we’ll see what tune I’m humming come Friday… But for now, things are going well.

Charlotte is still LOVING her brother (aka “my baby”). She loves to hold him and give him hugs and kisses. She’s been a great helper and is even making improvements in terms of being more gentle. Progress!

As for Henry… The boy loves his milk. LOVES his milk. He sleeps 2.5-3.5ish hours at a time during the night, which isn’t too bad! I think I get up 2-3 times per night? Maybe more? Honestly, I have no idea. I try to pay attention, but never seem to remember. I haven’t been tracking his nursing, which I think is part of it. But whatever it is, it doesn’t feel too bad. Although, tonight, he’s literally been nursing nonstop. Maybe he’ll sleep a longer stretch? Haha I’m not getting my hopes up.

He also has reflux. Poor cookie. He’ll howl out cries when his tummy hurts. Mostly it affects him at night. I’ve been trying to nurse him in an upright position and then hold him upright for 10-30 minutes after.

Regardless, he’s a super chill little man. Such a lovey. Also, he has the softest head and is just a total sweetie pie.

Anyway, here are some photos from the past week or so…

Charlotte’s Newborn Pictures

I realized today that I never actually shared Charlotte’s newborn photos (or my baby shower pictures – those will come another day). SO, with our 3-month pictures coming up this weekend, it seems appropriate to share some of our favorites. All photos taken by the wonderful Nicole of Pics by Nic and many of the cute headbands and the two hats were made by the fabulous Lisa of Kiki & Bee.

Enjoy…

Baby Photos

I am a total photo person, and as such, have been thinking a lot about newborn photos and the very cute and fun “month by month” photos once our baby arrives. In terms of professional photos, I did a LOT of researching and contacting and ended up finding a company called, Pics by Nic, thanks to my friend, Katie, and another friend from college. Her photos are adorable and she is SO inexpensive, it’s amazing.

Most of the quotes I had been getting were about $350-450 JUST for a newborn photo shoot. That was absolutely not an option for me. Nicole, the owner/photographer with Pics by Nic, has a “first year of life” package that includes a newborn, 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, 12-month and fall pumpkin photo shoot all for… wait for it… $375! That’s about $60/photo session! Pretty awesome, huh?

Here are some of her photos…

Oy. I love her pics. So cute, huh?

Anyway, the other thing I’ve been thinking about regarding photos is the “month by month” photos that I’ll take at home. I’ve found a bunch of cute options and really think I want to somehow incorporate Toby the Wonder Pup. Any opinions on which style you think is best (ie: using the little blocks – see below, or the onesies with the month sticker)??? Help me decide!

I was thinking I could do something like this, but instead of a stuffed animal, I could have Toby next to her.

Symptoms

Again, I’m feeling pretty damn tired. I’m starting to think that it has very little to do with how much sleep I get and more to do with the fact that I’m pregnant. Imagine that! Regardless, I keep on keepin’ on 🙂

Last night I went to the baseball game with a few friends. We technically got the tickets through my work, but it wasn’t too much of a work event. As we were walking out of the game, a random stranger said to me, “You need to get to the hospital immediately!” Well, screw you, dude! I do not think I look THAT big. Anyway, here are a few pictures from the game…
