What You’ve Missed…

I’ve definitely been MIA from the blog-front. Things have been so incredibly busy this month. I can’t believe we’re only 1.5 weeks from the big due date and just how fast time is flying by. Which reminds me… I’m in my final days as a 30 year old lady… woof. 31 with two kids. My younger self would definitely call me old.

Anyway, I digress. In attempts to get all caught up, this will be a post filled with pictures of all our many activities lately.

Enjoy!

LATE Weekend in Review

2/11/16

I’m all sorts of tardy with my blogging. Remember when I was 25 weeks pregnant? Yeah? Well, don’t expect to see a photo or update because somehow it’s already Thursday. BUT, I will post this very late update from our fun-filled weekend!

This past weekend was busy busy and Charlotte was just perfection. She is in this stage that’s literal magic. She’s still very much a sour patch kid, as my husband and I like to call her (a name we once used to describe me), but her sweet moments are just SO sweet and frequent.

Anyway, Friday we laid low. Our internet was out, so I’m pretty sure we ended up going to bed early that night. On Saturday, I took Charlotte to gymnastics class while Mark installed the new light fixture in the nursery (for baby boy) and waited for the cable guy. When we got home, it was time to pack up right away to meet our friends at our local nature preserve for the Winter Frolic.

It was absolutley adorable. There was a story time, a petting zoo (which was actually VERY creepy… it was reptiles and dead animal furs… C was creeped out by the furs), an indoor farmers market, a horse drawn carriage, and more. We had a lot of fun!

Then, after the frolic, Mark left right away to go have a little boys night and left Charlotte and I to fend for ourselves 🙂 She napped and when she woke up, we went to my parents’ house for dinner. Charlotte had a blast carrying her tiny person chair all around the house and loving on her teddy (who has become even more of an obsession since we ditched the paci).

On Sunday, we painted in the morning and did lots of playing. Then, post-nap, it was superbowl time! We headed to our friends’ house to watch the game and spend time with their little kiddies. The whole thing was great.

Charlotte and their oldest, Ellie, are at a really good age to play together. They’re a year apart and always seem to be on different pages, but on Sunday, they played so well! AND, our friends have a new little one, too! You know how C feels about babies… so you can imagine how excited she was to sit with mommy and baby Ari and rub little Ari’s back. The whole thing was great!

All in all, a total whirlwind of a weekend (that left me feeling like I needed another weekend on Monday) and a total blast!

A Busy Valentine’s Day Weekend

My Vday weekend update starts with a mini celebration this past Tuesday. Like the geek that he is, the hubs has spent 12+ hours over the past two(ish) months re-watching (in order) all of the Star Wars movies to refresh his memory before seeing the new movie on the big screen.

Now, if you’ve been to our house, you know that we have a pretty small TV. So, each of these 12 Star Wars Hours were spent curled up about 2 feet from the TV. Anyway, I told Mark I needed him home early so I could workout on Tuesday night, but instead surprised him with tickets to go see Star Wars at the iMax 3D theater. He was very pleased 🙂

On Thursday, Charlie brought in a little gift for her classmates. Because this is a religious school that does not celebrate Valentine’s Day, we kept it nice and general. But of course, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to give valentines 🙂

I’ll do a full blog on the sensory bottles “we” made for her class, but the gist is that while I had hoped it would be something C and I could do together, it turned into me binge watching “The Fall” and making 12 sensory bottles until around midnight. BUT, the kids loved them!

On Friday, we went to my parents’ house for dinner with my bro! As always, it was great being able to see him and giving C the opportunity to fall even more in love with her quirky uncle.

Saturday morning, C went to gymnastics (where she was a little gymnast rockstar, according to Daddy) and then we went to our favorite spot, the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, for a Valentine’s Day Ice Cream Social with our friends.

Charlotte loved it! She pointed out every single baby she saw, she peeked into every stroller, ate her first cup of ice cream and about 2.5 cheese sticks, she discovered Mr. Potato Head, did her first exercise class, and played with her best girls, Ellie & Ari.

And when Mommy says, “Say puppy dog!”

That evening, it was time for Marky’s VDay date that he planned for me. Not only was I surprised that he had planned anything (no offense, love), but I was so pleasantly surprised by our activity.

We went to Sur La Table for an Italian cooking class and it was fabulous! We had so much fun. (Thanks to Milly for watching the tiny one and giving us a night out!) We cooked a tasty salad, tenderloin and pasta carbonera… with custard for dessert. We had such a great time cooking and enjoying each other.

Definitely a perfect Valentine’s Day celebration.

On Sunday, the actual Vday, I decorated the bathroom mirror with little hearts (cut out from Charlotte’s beautiful artwork) that listed just some of the ways I love my sweet man.

Then, we were off! It was Baby Day!

First stop: the hospital to visit my beautiful friend who just had a tiny little man on Friday. Will. Oy. How cute, huh?

Then, we played cupid fairy and dropped off some cupcakes at a friend’s house who just recently had a little guy.

With all the driving (probably 2 hours total), I decided to give C her Valentine’s Day gift from Mommy early. I’ll do a separate post, but I made her a memory game with cards featuring our family. She LOVES THEM!

And our next stop: Another baby visit! This time we were off to our friends’ house to meet their newest addition, Mackenzie, and play with their older daughter, Madison. We brought lunch and caught up and watched the girls play. Charlotte is finally at an age where she’s really playing with her friends. It’s a blast to watch.

By the time we got home, it was 2 or 230 (we left the house at 9am). Thankfully, Charlotte napped right away so we could all get a little rest in. Then, Mark’s dad and step mom came over to see the little lady and brought us some dinner on the cold snowy evening. It was great!

All in all, a total whirlwind of fun and love.

Heart Flutters

Our little pie was quite the sweetie tonight. After she drank her milk on my lap while we read stories, and daddy took her to brush her teeth while I sat in the kitchen zoning out, I heard a tiny voice calling my name.

“Maaa!? Momma?”

“Yes, Charlie?” (As I get up and walk into view of my little bunny – who is in daddy’s arms)

And to my heart melting surprise, Charlotte has her tiny arms reaching out for me.

“Awww! Are you asking momma to put you to bed?”

She nods with a big smile as I scoop her up.

I don’t know if you guys remember a few weeks ago when she kept demanding daddy (by crying and reaching towards him)? Well, I haven’t forgotten. Not that I haven’t put her to bed pretty consistently since then… But tonight was different.

Tonight was so sweet.

When we got into her room, she said, “mom mom” in a very giddy way and squeezed me for a big hug.

Excuse me while I melt.

Happy Charlie

Today was a great day for Charlie. Unfortunately, she still has a nasty cough and her nose is a faucet, but the little one woke up on the right side of the bed this morning. Maybe because she actually slept last night (funny how that works, huh?).

This chipper little bunny had us all smiling today and allowed us to share some sweet moments with her. Here are just a handful of the many laughs, smiles, and warm fuzzies from our day…

This is even sillier because as a little one, I was notorious for walking arounf with 2+ pacis in my mouth and even more in my hands and pockets.

Baby and blankie come together to make Charlie one happy little lady.

Charlotte is OBSESSED with carrying baby in a swaddle. i have a feeling, she is going to be very demanding of time with her little brother. hopefully by that time she learns that throwing babies is not allowed.

Being goofy with Daddy 💛

Winter Break 2015/16

For the first time in… I don’t know, ever, I had a REAL Winter Break this year. Even in college, I always worked over breaks. Hell, in high school I worked over breaks.

This year, I took off from Thursday, December 24th (I only worked a half day on the 23rd) through the new year… meaning today is my first day back.

Ahhhhhhhh… SO NICE!

To make it even better, the hubs was off, too!

We spent the first half of our trip really relaxing. I’m talking daily naps, afternoon movies, day dates, etc. Unfortunately, Charlotte got sick on the 24th and was sick with pink eye… then a few days later got sick with a fever, which she had for three + days.

The goofy munchie enjoying some milk.

That face…

New Years Eve 2015/16: Bowling Party

Bowling with a toddler was hilarious!

Happy NYE face.

The second half of our vacation was spent painting Charlotte’s new big girl room! I’ll do an entire post dedicated to the new room and painting process, but the gist is that we’re going to leave the nursery as-is (ish) – only changing decor, but leaving all major furniture/paint – and move Charlotte to the other bedroom.

So, to begin the room makeover, we painted. Trim and all!

We picked Sherwin Williams Intimate White, which is pretty dang pink/coral. BUT, I really love how it turned out and think it’s all going to come together quite nicely.

BEFORE (with a splash of our tester color)

We moved the furniture into the hallway!

AFTER: Sneak peek with just a few items in the room!

Hanging in the Fort

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a huge online shopper (and returner). That means that our entryway looks like this from time to time:

This morning, we decided to make use of some of the boxes by making a fort. Let me just say… Best. Activity. Ever.

So much fun 💛💛💛

Gramps

My sweet grandfather has been in the hospital since last week with what was originally thought to be a mild heart attack and is now being categorized (by me) as the cardiac “ick.” Grandpa has been working with a cardiologist to potentially get a new valve put in via cathetar. However, after doing some exploring earlier this week (also via cathetar) and monitoring his kidneys, it was decided that he’d have to wait for the valve until the state of his kidneys improved. So yesterday, they used a balloon to open up his valve a bit and hopefully relieve some of the strain on his kidneys.

For anyone who doesn’t know my Grandpa, I’m sorry. He’s a pretty awesome and funny man.

Don’t believe me? Trust YouTube… YES! That’s my Gramps with over 1 million views:

I went to see Grandpa on Tuesday of last week and we sat for over an hour talking about his life and his travels. He first started by telling me about how wonderful the hospital staff has been. The night before, one of the nurses sat with Grandpa and he sang to her. Probably after telling her a joke or two… that’s my Grandpa.

He told me about travelling while in the Navy and how he travelled via train from NY to Cali (and back again) something like 4-6 times during his Navy days. The trip took 6 days I believe. Just slightly different than traveling today. I asked Grandpa if it was a rough trip, he said, “Nahh! It was great. I was young!”

As we chatted about all of the great times in his life, Grandpa said to me, “I’d like to make it to Judah’s Bar Mitzvah.” With about 7ish years to go until my nephew’s bar mitzvah, I’d say that’s a pretty good goal.

Grandpa is a fighter. He’s had stints, bypass surgery, and now these latest heart procedures… he fought with my Grandma when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and again when she was diagnosed with alzheimers… but bigger than all of these fights is his love for life and his love for our family. Grandpa’s going to be just fine.

After his procedure yesterday, Charlie was ready with tons of smooches and love for Grandpa. She would whine and lean towards him with her lips puckered, just waiting for us to lean her over to give Gramps more kisses… she loves her Great Gramps.

Surprise Lunch Date

My brother-in-law, Evan, and nephew, Judah, popped into work last week for a visit! We had a blast playing and eating lunch together. Charlotte is one VERY loved little girl and she loves her cousins in a BIG way!

How cute are they??

After lunch, C came back to the office to feed her puppy…
