Mommy Dates

I’ve been working an earlier day on Tuesdays so that I can pick up Charlie from school at 3pm. In doing so, I’ve been able to blend my working momma / SAHM status a little more than normal (which is the beauty of taking Henry to work with me every day).

Well, since I’m home at 3, I get to hang with my favorite momma friends & their broods on occasion. It seems that we’ve had a lot of great weather days on Tuesdays. It’s awesome. We take walks with the kids, blow bubbles, play, etc.

Definitely the highlight to my week!

Note that Miss C loves to care for the younger boys and little H is always smiling!!

We Took the Kids to the Aquarium (back in March)

Back in February, we took the kids to Discovery World, which has awesome interactive exhibits and an aquarium. It was an abnormally warm and perfect day, so we took advantage by taking a walk by the lake.

Here are some photos…

All My Self…

Miss Independent

The key phrase in our home these days is, “I do it all my self” or “NO! I wanna do it all my self.” The toddler has independence oozing our her eyeballs and this morning was no exception.

On Tuesdays, I typically go to work early (before the kids wake up) and I leave work early to pick C up at 3. Unfortunately, this morning, I was running a bit behind because our power KEPT. GOING. OFF. (And is still off!)

I was in the kitchen finishing up when Mark came out of the bedroom and said that both kids were awake. He went into Henry’s room first, as Henry was crying. Jacket on, I was about to head out the door when I heard Charlotte’s bedroom door open and the pitter patter of excited mini feet. “Mommy! I wake up all my self!!” she says from the hallway.

Hmmmm.

Me: I see that, love. In the future, please make sure to wait until Mommy or Daddy comes to get you.

C: Okayyyy.

Me: <fingers and toes crossed>

I can handle her needing to squeeze the toothpaste and turn on the lights and open/close the doors, and pour the cereal, and serve herself dinner, and cut her own food, and put on her clothing, and take off her clothing, and wipe herself, and climb into her car seat, and climb out of her car seat, and, and, and… BUT, I cannot handle her getting out of bed on her own. Not yet, tiny gf.

Henry’s 8 Month Photos

Alright, so here are the photos that inspired me to get all of the other photos posted to the blog… Henry’s most recent: the 8 month photos!

If it were just Henry at this photo session, I would say that it went perfectly! Despite it being right when he should have been napping, he was a total dream. Happy, smiley, fun, etc. However, it was not just Henry.

My other two children did not behave so well. “OTHER TWO CHILDREN?” you might say…

Why, yes! It’s unclear which of these “children” hates photos more: Mark (hubby) or Charlotte (the toddler). Charlie was ALL. OVER. THE. PLACE. She would smile like a perfect little angel, the photographer would lift her camera, finger on the trigger and C would run or start screaming or flail.

This picture really captures the big “F you” message she was sending me… (check out those eyes… those are f you eyes.)

The other child, the man child, got crabby. He just hates these photo sessions. BUT, we all survived and churned out some pretty cute pics. All in all: success!

As an FYI, my favorite pics are the one below (look at those arm rolls) and that TUSH (sorry, Henry)…

Henry’s 4 Month Photos

Henry’s 4 month pictures were taken at a park located on Lake Michigan. We had an absurdly windy day, but sunny and lovely. Poor Henry had a solid blowout poop/pee mid-photoshoot, that wasn’t noticed until we were just about done… so, if he looks pissed, he is! haha Literally.

I loved how these photos turned out. They definitely reminded me of our engagement photos, which are my favorites.

See… aren’t these amazing:

But I digress… (sorry for attempting to steal the show, Henry)!

Henry’s Newborn Photos

Within a week of little Henry’s arrival, we took Henry’s newborn photos. I don’t remember all the details, as I was in a blurry state of exhaustion, but I do remember that it did not go amazingly. My GIANT baby refused to sleep like a newborn. He cried and cried for the first 3/4 of the session and then slept super lightly for the last quarter.

We had planned to schedule another mini session to get a few more photos, but I got lazy and didn’t want to endure the torture. Regardless, his pictures are cute! Not my favorite photo session, but definitely some very sweet shots. As you’ll see, my little ham also tried to steal the show with some 2-year-old shots.

Henry’s Fresh 48 Photos

I noticed yesterday that I have yet to post any of Henry’s professional photos. For Henry, we did photos in the hospital when Charlie was there visiting. This is the “Fresh 48” and I am SO happy that we did them. They’re amazing and special and give me all the feels.

Valentine’s Day

We had a really nice Valentine’s Day! My amazingly sweet husband snuck out of the house early to surprise me with flowers at my office.

But before I saw my flowers, Marky took charge with both kiddos so I could get into work early…

At lunch, hubby came by to spend time with Henry and I.

And then we put the kiddies to bed early (after an adorable evening with them), ordered Thai food (Marky was even home from work early), and had an at-home date night ❤

My sweet hubs surprised me with a massage gift certificate and the kids and I made him this beautiful little piece of art…
