33 Weeks (May 9, 2014). Somehow it’s already Friday! I’m not going to complain, but this week literally flew by. I’m definitely feeling bigger… at least today anyway. And, I think as our little munchkin beefs up, my belly is looking more and more as if I swallowed a basketball. As for that growing munchkin, she is a pineapple! 17.2″ and 4.5 lbs (ish). That’s crazy. I can’t believe we only have 49 days to go!

Symptoms

Last night we had an appointment with our hospital to install the car seat bases in both of our cars. We had been scared into having it done by “professionals” during our classes, where they said that 80% of car seats aren’t installed correctly. I’m not going to lie, while the two women installing our car seat bases were nice, they didn’t seem “into it”… maybe I was being a little sexist because I was expecting men to do the installation (I know, I know… terrible). BUT really, they were super lazy about it. I had to ask them to redo it twice because it seemed too loose or it wasn’t level.

Regardless, we not have car seat bases!

Also, note that our seat is in the middle. You need to be able to get a hand in between the car seat and the front seat, but as long as there is room, this is the safest option for baby. I didn’t understand why until the woman said, “think about if you get T-boned”… okay, now I get it. The middle is a bit more of a pain because you have to reach over, but baby’s safety is worth it. Also, we had picked up some seat pads to protect the seat from the base and were told that unless it actually comes with the car seat, it voids the warranty and sometimes poses issues with insurance. Noted. We didn’t use the pads. I think that’s all, but will say, if you’re installing the base yourself, make sure to yank that thing in VERY tightly. Once secured, it shouldn’t wiggle more than a 1/2 inch.

*FYI, we got the Britax B-Safe Car Seat & Bases. Everything I’ve heard from literally every momma I’ve asked has been that Britax is the best. Best quality, safest, etc.

In other news, I’m crabby today. I’m not 100% sure why, but I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed I guess. And if I’m being totally honest, I think I’m a little crabby because Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend and my birthday is next week… and I have this feeling my hubs has nothing planned. I’m a HUGE birthday person, so I think I’m feeling a little disappointed, which I should just let go of. He tends to surprise me now and again.

Also, while poor Ollie the Cat doesn’t get a lot of face-time on the blog, he was especially silly this morning keeping watch from the back of the toilet. Enjoy Sir Kitty.

32 Weeks… 8 Months!! (May 2, 2014)

32 Weeks… 8 Months! (May 2, 2014). HOLY SMOKES! How has it already been 8 months? I can’t believe our little girl is already 4 lbs and nearly 17″(ish). That’s just crazy. And me… well, I’m obviously getting larger! Today the dude that fills the vending machine at our office gave me two free (and unsolicited) bags of snacks. I must look hungry? Or ravenous? Maybe it was his version of throwing a piece of bloody meat to a tiger and making a getaway. Whatever. I ate the pretzels happily.

31 Weeks, 2 Days (April 27, 2014)

31 Weeks, 2 Days (April 27, 2014). Our sweet girl is now the size of a pineapple!! 3.3 lbs, 16.2″… Ish! I can’t even believe it. She’s getting so big and time is just flying. I can’t believe that we are in single digits now… Only 9 weeks (or so) until we meet our girl! I can’t even stand it… I’m just so excited.

29 Weeks, 5 Days (April 16, 2014). So, with all the craziness of this past week, I totally forgot to post my 29-week photo. But, here it is a few days shy of Week 30. The belly continues to grow, although, I only gained 2 lbs over the past 3 weeks! Not too shabby. The princess is now over 15 inches and weighs 2.5 lbs… well, if she’s “normal size”, which her parents are not… we’re tiny people. Well, Mark’s 5′ 9″…. but I’m 5′ 1″… so I’m guessing she’ll be pretty tiny like her momma. When the doc took my measurement, she said she was small, too! So, we’ll see!

28 Weeks… 7 Months! (April 4, 2014)

AKA: HOLY SHIT, I swallowed a basketball!

28 Weeks… 7 Months! (April 4, 2014). Okay, it’s official… I’m getting HUGE! This buddah belly is really shaping up… and out… and to the side! Our sweet girl is really getting big now and so are her kicks! She’s nearly 15 inches and weighs about 2.2 lbs… a real giant!!

It’s faint, but the linea nigra is there… also, my belly button is disappearing.

I don’t remember swallowing a basketball, but it appears as though I must have…

BaBAM! That’s a big belly. People are going to start rubbing it for good luck…

Symptoms

Well, besides feeling pretty damn giant, it’s pretty much business as usual. I will say, the past few days, I’ve really been missing my old body. Not that I don’t love being pregnant and love our sweet girl, but I miss… a) feeling sexy. That’s LONG gone. b) getting in a good close hug with my hubs. The belly really gets in the way. c) being able to get dressed easily. d) being able to run into a normal store and find a cute new outfit. Okay… enough bitching.

The positives… it’s FRIDAY! I’m pumped for this weekend. Tonight I’ll meet my lady friends out to celebrate a friend’s birthday and then tomorrow is Part 85 of the great nursery build. We got the pieces in to finish the dresser, we’re going to paint the doors and hopefully get those back on their hinges, get some pictures/mirror/decor hung up, and get the two guest bedrooms organized and ready for our house guests next weekend. And on Sunday, we have some friends coming over for grilled pizza… mmmm!

And, it’s crazy to think about, but next weekend is already my shower! How the heck did that happen? I could not be more excited. My mom and sister have been working hard and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be AMAZING. I can’t wait… at all… yay! Fun times ahead.

27 Weeks (March 28, 2014)

27 Weeks (March 28, 2014). Well, well, well. I’m definitely getting pretty darn big. It’s crazy… I don’t recognize my own body. But, I’m feeling great (pregnancy wise) and working to fight off this ick. Also, how cute is Toby? I swear I didn’t even call him. He just followed us into the room and sat down to watch me. So cute.

26 Weeks (March 21, 2014)

26 Weeks (March 21, 2014). I cannot believe I’m 6.5 months! When did that happen? Also, I must note that I’m very glad my stomach isn’t as flaming red as it was a few days ago. It is getting pretty large though. The baby is about 1.75 lbs and 14″ now! And, she’s a little kicking monster. This morning, I’m pretty sure she actually wound up and kicked my bladder full-force. Such a stinker.

Symptoms

I’ve been feeling really great. The vacay helped me to relax and I’m feeling super excited and just all around good. Since we’ve been back, we got the trim caulked and putty’d and last night we did another coat of paint on the trim and on one of the doors. Tonight, we’re going to do the second coat on the walls… AND THEN… we get to move onto furniture and chandelier installation!! Could anything be better? Marky is going to start the chandelier on Saturday and maybe during that time I’ll either work on getting more dang paint on the doors or I could build something small… like the changing table topper. Oy. The room is going to be WAY different come Sunday night. I just can’t even contain my excitement.

Also, it must be mentioned that my superstar momma is back at home now. She was in the hospital since the 17th due to her second total knee replacement. I saw her in the hospital when I got back and again yesterday and she’s doing REALLY well. Way better than last time. Her surgery happened to be scheduled after we booked our trip, and unfortunately, it was while we were away. For her last knee surgery, I stayed at the hospital all day with my dad, but this time, I was in another country. Needless to say, I was feeling pretty guilty and worried about her. In fact, so much so that I literally BURST into sobbing tears during lunch with my hubs. Any amount of crying in a restaurant seems to cause a scene, but I will confirm that when on vacation, in a happy, all-inclusive resort, crying is even more out of sorts.

Also, in my absence, my sweet Mother-in-Law (Milly) sat with my dad while my mom was in surgery. Knowing that she was there with him was SUCH a comfort and, such a reminder of how lucky I am to have such an amazing support system in place. I couldn’t be more grateful for my born-into-family and my married-into-family.

24 Weeks… 6 MONTHS! (March 7, 2014)

24 Weeks… 6 Months! March 7, 2014. Where does the time go? Seriously! I cannot believe we’ve made it to the monumental 6 month mark. I’m not sure why it feels SO important, but for some reason, I’ve always had 6 months in my head as the time when you become REALLY pregnant!

23 Weeks (February 28, 2014)

23 Weeks (February 28, 2014). I can’t believe next week I’ll be 6 months! That just seems SOO pregnant. My belly is definitely growing and is still looking pretty darn pointy, right? Silly little baby bump…

Symptoms

Yesterday I tripped over myself at the gym and thankfully landed on my knee. The unfortunate part is that I landed on my knee… and it hurt. What I’ve learned from this experience is that I need to BE CAREFUL and not do any kind of exercise with accelerated inertia (as my husband put it). The stupid thing is that I was doing a quick side shuffle with a resistance band around my knees… so, if you can imagine, I tripped over my foot and when I went to catch myself, I couldn’t do a great job because I had a damn rubber band around my legs. Not smart, but thankfully I was given the opportunity to learn from the mistake without any more damage than a little burn to the knee.

Otherwise, I’m feeling good! Swollen in the mornings (from my toes all the way to my face), but otherwise good! If the weather cooperates, we’ll be headed to Pottery Barn Kids tomorrow to check out some furniture and I’m hoping to stop by a local furniture store tonight to see what they have to offer in the crib/dresser department. Keep you posted!

As for the current state of the nursery, while it still has the guest bedroom furniture in it, all my husbands stuff has now been removed from the closet and the two little Closetmaid Cubeicles with Canvas Drawers (in natural) and Baskets have been built and set up in there. Looks cute.

22 Weeks… 5.5 Months! (February 21, 2014)

22 Weeks… 5.5 Months! (February 21, 2014). I can’t believe it’s already been 5.5 months! What a crazy little journey it’s been so far. My body is definitely changing and things are really starting to feel more real. I can’t believe this small nugget will be here in under 5 months!

Symptoms

The last couple of days, I’ve been forgetting to include “symptoms” in my posts, so I thought I’d throw it in this one. The biggest symptom I’ve been feeling is this little jumping bean! The difference between the movement from last week to this week has been crazy. Probably about 2-4 times per day, she really goes nuts and does some serious re-positioning. I’m talking full-on belly movement… I can feel her graze my entire stomach. And then sprinkled in there are LOTS of bladder kicks. Those are a little less than comfortable. She’s also been kicking what feels even lower… I refer to those as the vagina kicks. Thanks, lovey… I just adore those moments when I’m talking to a coworker and simultaneously trying to ignore the fact that you’re poking down to my lady parts from the inside. Not weird at all…

But really, I do just totally enjoy all the movement. It’s so crazy. My favorite pokes are right at my belly button. I don’t know why, but they feel so silly… almost a tickle feeling.

Also, yesterday was officially the first day I actually SAW my belly moving. I took a video; although, I’m sure it’s a little hard to see from there. A few disclaimers… 1) please ignore the ridiculous amount of hair on my shirt. The puppito seems to be shedding a bit of undercoat or something, which on occasion gets me a little hairy. 2) You can see my whole belly bounce right after I pick a hair off of my stomach.

SO FUN!

Other than that, it’s business as usual. I’m totally in the pregnancy groove. I have my energy, I’ve been productive and I’m starting to really get moving in the “nesting” / preparation phase of things. I’m ready to take on the nursery this weekend… clean out some stuff, do some reorganizing and measuring, and get some plans in place. Maybe head to Babies R’ Us and Pottery Barn Kids to check out some furniture… and who knows, maybe we’ll pick out paint colors. I know… so exciting!
